In the year 564 A.D., Saint Hakuno brutally murdered while on a pilgrimage to the sacred city of Ikaruga. The perpetrator, a crazed ninja named Kojiro Sasaki, never apprehended and has never brought to justice.

Nearly 500 years later, in modern day Japan, Hakuno resurrected as a playable character in the game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. After defeating Jumandar, the final boss and ruler of the castle, Hakuno makes her way down to Lower Ikaruga to find Kojiro Sasaki.
